One of the most popular bands of the 1980's has decided to reunite for a tour this spring and summer with many dates in North America and Europe selling out in minutes. It is expected that this will be the highest grossing tour of 2007 and cynics feel that the only reason past animosities have been set aside by band members is the huge piles of cash beckoning. The question is - what songs will they select for their tour setlists?
Geoff Emerick was only sixteen years old when he worked on the Beatles' first-ever recording session. Only a few years later he would play an important part in shaping the fab four's musical direction.

It looks like a specific category of persons in the hip hop industry do think that the rap game is only a young man's game. Little did you know about hip hop if you really think so- that’s my point-and I will give you some valid arguments to feed your reflection on this theme.

Speaking of NWA, most people have Dr Dre, Ice Cube and Compton legend Eazy E in mind. Less spoken about, but nevertheless a capital element of the world’s most dangerous group, DJ Yella gave NWA its spicy reggae-rap flavor. Né Antoine Carraby, DJ Yella was born on December the 11th, 1967 in Compton, California. Man of many hats, DJ Yella has worked as a DJ, a producer and as a porno film director.

During the mid 90s, along with other Californian bands like Rancid and The Offspring, Green Day revived the popularity of the punk rock scene in the United States. The success of Green Day and other punk rock bands have influenced the new generation of punk rock bands like Good Charlotte and Sum41.
Six months of hanging out in smoky, grungy "genbas," or Japanese hip-hop clubs, gave cultural anthropologist Ian Condry insight into how American rap music and attitudes were being transformed by the youth in Japan.
The 1970s was probably the first decade in which the cynicism of a generation was widely reflected in the popular culture and music of that generation. Like most decades, musically the ‘70s could be divided up into five year periods; the first years saw the rise of the influence of indie band the Velvet Underground and a shift away from bubble gum rock of the ‘60s; the Beatles broke up and suddenly everyone was experimenting.

White Trash played R&B, rootsy rock & roll, gospel, and funk flavored tunes. You couldn't pigeon hole these guys like you could every other artist that was on the radio in those days.

Made up of two very unique characters called “W” aka Alison Mosshart, and “Hotel” aka Jamie Hince, they are a duo much like the White Stripes in that one is male and one is female, their sound is stripped down and they play an interpretation of the blues. Listening to the two bands back to back though, they sound as different as day and night.
In 1970, with amazing results, two of the best guitarists of the day came together, although only briefly. Only one short year later one would be dead, the other removed from the music scene, but that brief moment, the “perfect storm” collaboration, is forever immortalized in a single song: “Layla”. The band was called Derek and the Dominos, the album, Layla and Other Assorted Love Songs, and the guitarists were Eric Clapton, and Duane Allman.

Are we living in an era of commercial hip-hop or the raw and lyrical presence that creates self expression to the streets.
Although I'm very passionate about my music, my guitar playing and blues, I don't in any way consider myself an expert on any of these topics. I'm always open to new artists and a lot of artists that have received high praise from other musicians I simply haven't had the chance to listen to yet. This will explain to some why I had never listened to Roy Buchanan till recently.
